At Black Mouse Furniture, commissions allow you to give new life to a much-loved or well-worn piece of furniture. Each commission is a collaborative and creative process, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind piece.

The Nature of Commissioned Work

• All commissions involve pre-owned or existing furniture

• Due to the age and history of each piece, results may vary

• Natural imperfections, signs of wear, and character may remain and are considered part of the finished piece
   

Restoration and upcycling aim to enhance and stabilise furniture, not to make it factory-new unless specifically agreed.

Design & Finish

• Design, colours, finishes, and details will be agreed in advance

• We work to the agreed brief, but artistic interpretation and material behaviour can result in slight variations

• Once work has begun, changes to the agreed design may not always be possible

Materials & Pricing

• Quotes are based on estimated material and labour costs

• Material costs are approximate and may vary depending on availability, condition of the piece, or changes required during the restoration process

• The final price may differ slightly from the original quote

• Any significant increase in cost will be discussed and agreed upon before work continues

Structural Condition

• While every effort is made to assess condition upfront, hidden defects may be uncovered once work begins

• If major issues are found, we will contact you to discuss options before proceeding

• Additional repairs may incur extra charges, subject to approval

Timeframes

• Commission timeframes are estimated, not guaranteed

• Delays may occur due to drying times, materials, or unforeseen repairs

• We’ll keep you informed throughout the process

Payments & Cancellations

• A non-refundable deposit may be required to secure a commission

• Once work has started, commissions cannot be cancelled or refunded

• Final payment is required before collection or delivery unless otherwise agreed

Delivery & Collection

• Delivery and/or collection costs may be charged separately and are not always included in the commission price

• All arrangements and costs will be discussed at the start of the commission

• Finished pieces must be collected or delivered within the agreed timeframe

Final Acceptance

• By commissioning a piece with Black Mouse Furniture, you acknowledge:

• The pre-owned nature of the furniture

• The handmade and artistic process involved

• That minor imperfections and variations are part of the finished result

• That final costs may vary slightly due to materials and restoration requirements
